Background
The term Scattered Gneiss was used by Moorhead and Hynes (1990) to describe a thrust sheet consisting mainly of Archean gneiss in fault contact with the Paleoproterozoic rocks of the Laporte Supersuite. In the northern part of the Rachel-Laporte Lithotectonic Domain, Gélinas (1965) and Moorhead and Hynes (1990) identified three units considered to be part of different thrust sheets: the Rénia Complex, the Scattered Gneiss and the Moyer Complex. Lafrance et al. (2014) abandoned the use of the latter two terms and grouped them together as the Rénia Complex.
Reasons for Abandonment
Geological mapping of Lafrance et al. (2014) demonstrated that units previously assigned to the Moyer Complex and Scattered Gneiss form a single large gneiss unit now assigned to the Rénia Complex. Thus, the terms Moyer Complex and Scattered Gneiss were abandoned.
