Background

The Moyer Complex was defined by Gélinas (1965) to describe a thrust sheet consisting mainly of Archean quartzofeldspathic gneiss in fault contact with Paleoproterozoic rocks of the Laporte Supersuite. In the northern part of the Rachel-Laporte Lithotectonic Domain, Gélinas (1965) and Moorhead and Hynes (1990) identified three units considered to be part of different thrust sheets: the Rénia Complex, the Scattered Gneiss and the Moyer Complex. Lafrance et al. (2014) abandoned the use of the latter two terms and grouped them together as the Rénia Complex (Area).

Revised Units Abandonned Units Reference(s)

Reasons for Abandonment

Geological mapping works of Lafrance et al. (2014) demonstrated that the units previously assigned to the Moyer Complex and Scattered Gneiss form a single large gneiss unit now assigned to the Rénia Complex. Thus, the terms Moyer Complex and Scattered Gneiss are abandoned.
