Background

The Deborah Formation was defined by Girard (1995) in sheet 23P05. It was extended into the NW corner of sheet 23P03 by Hammouche et al. (2011) and extrapolated northwards by Henrique-Pinto et al. (2017, 2019). The unit was abandoned by Lafrance and Vanier (2021) as part of the Southeastern Churchill Province synthesis (Lafrance et al., 2018).

Reasons for Abandonment

Girard (1995) included a wide range of lithologies in the Deborah Formation, which was subsequently divided into several units in a subsequent compilation. In their synthesis, Lafrance and Vanier (2021) abandoned this unit and reassigned metasedimentary rocks to the Freneuse Suite, the majority of which correspond to unit pPfru1b. Amphibolite, metatuff and gabbro units of the Deborah Formation have been included in units pPkle1a, pPkle1b and pPkle3 of the Klein Suite, respectively.
